Huge thanks to the entire Invision team for helping us move to the Cloud. We've been using Invision since 2006 (maybe even earlier) and have always hosted everything on our own servers. With a community as large as ours—several terabytes—we were nervous about making the switch, thinking it might be a tough process. But the Invision team made it super easy, the actual transition (after data transfer) took less than a day. Maybe even just a couple hours, for the new DNS to propagate. Big shoutout to Marc for being incredibly responsive the whole way through, Jim for helping out with our other community, and Olivia for guiding us through the sales part. If you're still self-hosting, I definitely recommend their Cloud solution. Totally worth it. Länk till full forum post

In version 5, the recent Topics Feed block and the recent Posts Feed block are basically identical, and I don't like the new Topic Feed. In version 4, it would display JUST a list of the most recent topics. I usually set it to display the most recent 5 topics. But in version 5, it shows not just the title, but a rather large snippet of the actual post as well. This is undesirable because it creates a lot of clutter. Is there any way to get it to display ONLY the topic titles like it does by default in v4? Länk till full forum post

I am posting the topic in this section because my goal is for the development team to study what I will write. First, I will share that the 5th version is at least twice as easy to optimize web vitals compared to the previous 4.x, and 5.0.6 has significantly improved performance, for which I can only congratulate your team for developing an unexpected but effective improvement. Today it occurred to me why, when my main site was still using 4.7.20, and the test site was with 5.0 beta - the PSI tests with 4.7.20 were relatively constant and good indicators, while the tests with 5.0 were strange - either deeply fixed between 60-65 for a mobile test (in fact, I won't talk about desktop anymore, only for a mobile test) - and for a period of at least an hour, for tests every 10-15 minutes, or with a sharp improvement of the order of 85-95 again for an indefinite time, about an hour, with tests at the same intervals... And here I remembered today - in 4.7.20 I used only forums and pages...and in 5.0 it's all APPs. Although I haven't launched public commerce yet, I'm experimenting with this app. What I noticed - I noticed commerce tasks first. Here are my observations from today - of course my main site is 5.0.6 Today I decided and started a long series of tests - as early as 10:00 AM - I created a table in which I noted down the results of my tests every 10 or 15 minutes...I won't post it now because it's quite long and boring. But what can be summarized? These were tests that I finished around 5:00 PM. In short - between 10:00 and 11:00 - test results were between 64-66 points - and without any difference in LCP - always around 6 - 6.5 seconds... Removing the cache site, changing the browser used for testing, and other ideas did not change the test results. After 11:00, the tests changed abruptly and for a period of at least an hour they were in the range of 85-99 points (I didn't do anything on my site - only tests), and today my server responded quite well for all tests, i.e. the server's behavior has nothing to do with it - for the entire test period it was very good. Between 12:30 and 14:15 my tests hit 64-66 again... I was thinking of giving up on tests for today, when at 14:30 it was 99 again... and by 17:00, when I stopped testing for today, all tests were between 85 and 99... at every moment when I ran them... Now a little while ago my first test from my home was with 64 points. I decided to do an experiment - I manually started all the commerce tasks. Here is the first test after my action - , and the site at this time functions quickly and without issues. I waited a few minutes and tested again. What I think is that there is a function in one of the tasks with an indefinite timeout, which causes the interference that I write about above. And this is related to the slow 4G, as the PSI test is set up. Sorry if I have bothered you, but I think there is some error that affects performance and at an unclear moment in time. Last time I checked these were not available yet. Any news on this please? Also we are thinking about moving away from dedicated hosting to your cloud service. I don't know if this feature would be of interest to anyone else. It certainly would be extremely useful for us. I run a forum which gives free consumer law advice in the UK. We have 400,000 members over the last 19 years. Many row threads/topics can go on for many pages as we help people with litigation against companies. There is a lot of uploading of PDF documents from both sides and eventually it is very difficult for these things to get lost in the middle of the discussion and we have to work our way through them to find them again if we need them. It would be great if somehow or other at the top of each topic there was a list of included attachments so that either our members or the staff could simply click the one they wanted and it would open up. Alternatively, clicking the attachment icon could go to the place in the thread where it had been uploaded and we could then upload the attachment and also see the context in which it had been inserted. I like the new and improved editor in V5! Here's a couple of asks: 1) Tables - have the ability to center the table. 2) We hold several events that members sign up /register for. Being able to create and host that form - with basic details (name, board name, etc) and option fields that could vary with events (meal; T-shirt; arrival date; etc). Having that filled out and then submitted to admin to manually tally, or better yet, have it transferred to a master registration doc that would compile the user data to a doc. Hello, Right now, with Word Filters, you can reject on a keyword. I do this, but it tells the spammer the keyword, so if they are any good at their corrupt line of work, they avoid the word and post again. Hiding posts doesn't do the job because then I get thousands of spam messages, hidden from users, but deleting them all is still a lot of effort. What I'd like to do is ban the user immediately based on the words they post. My forum is technical, so for example, if you post "Expedia" or "QuickBooks", the odds you are a spammer is nearly 100%. If, when they type these keywords and submit the post, it would ban them completely and say something to the effect of "Based on the content of your post, you have been banned. If you believe this is in error, please contact support.", my life would be easier. Alternatively, is there a way to achieve this already? Thanks! God bless. James Länk till full forum post

I like the features in IPS 5 where you can customize things like the navigation and things like classic/compact topic pages but my main problem in IPS 5 is it looks much worse on mobile on the home page and forum topics page. I'd really like to be able to use the classic view for these pages, I don't like the last poster image being replaced with only the author image on topic lists and I don't like the home page having nothing on the right hand side, it looks much worse having last poster info where it is in IPS 5, more cluttered and less easy on the eyes. But an option to use the classic way would solve it, I can't upgrade to how it is now. Länk till full forum post

Putting Tags in the menu is a useful addition. 👍 However, it doesn’t work well for multilingual sites as tags might end up the only untranslated entries, as there is no choice of providing a translation. It just uses the tag as is. In addition, it can look awkward because we might want to use lowercase letters for the tag, but that looks out of place among the usually capitalized menu entries. Please consider either making the entry translatable in the menu editor, or simply have the menu use the “tag headline“ we can already set up and translate. That way, I can have a #news tag, but an English “News“ menu entry and a German “Neuigkeiten“ menu entry for example, not “news“ for every language. Länk till full forum post

It would be interesting if you could add a line to separate the apps in the Theme Editor -> Page layouts, like this: It tends to get messy if you have too many apps adding stuff there. With version 4, I was able to code in an mp3 player that can handle multiple tracks within topics and posts, with a PDF viewer along its side, like this. However with the new update, I am left unsure how simple it will be to code this in myself. The reason why this will be tricky is because the default uploads first have to be hidden. This means if this is not carefully coded, there would be duplicate attachments in a topic or post. I could be wrong, but at a cursory glance I am not seeing a way to replace existing tags in v5, making this functionality impossible to code (the right way). And unfortunately, the default mp3 uploads don't have any way of labeling what the mp3 is. You will notice in my example, that every track is clearly labeled by the mp3 file name. So I am wondering if the developers can look into the following: Can we have an embedded mp3 player that handles tracks within topics and posts? Where each track is named by it's file name? I am using Soundmanager2 Can we also have a way to embed pdfs, like in my example, where each pdf is named by it's file name? The idea is to have a click open an embedded window, as to not download the file. I realize the second bullet point is a bit of a specific use case scenario, but since my community is based on reviewing musical compositions, I need a better way to show pdfs. The way I currently have this set up works ok because a click on the musical score opens up an embedded pdf viewer, without having to download the file. I don't want to necessarily download pdfs when I am reviewing or just listening to someone's work. If this can be added into the core functionality, this saves me a lot of headache from having to maintain my own application. While I don't mind coding custom apps, I just don't see an easy way any longer to add this functionality into v5 myself. Let me know if this is feasible! Länk till full forum post
