  1. Not sure where to post this, but in the latest v5 beta 14.1, whenever I use the theme editor and click save, my header banner/logo disappears and I have to add them again. This happens every time. Bug? Länk till full forum post

  4. EDIT: Posted this in wrong section, please remove. Status updates have been removed in v5. Signing in with a Display Name has been removed in v5, email addresses must be used instead. Open tagging has been replaced with a new system in v5. Pages: You are using custom PHP blocks. These will no longer function in v5. Why on earth are we losing features that we have had access to up until this point? I understand iterating on features but the complete removal of Status updates, Display Name login and PHP blocks is a baffling decision. Please reconsider and let us keep the product that we have been paying for, or at the very least make the patch an optional one. We are people with a hobby and not developers, losing functionality or finding additional ways of making things work due to patches like this is a nightmare scenario. All we ask is to maintain a semblance of backwards compatibility, as paying customers -- is such a thing really too much to ask for? Länk till full forum post
  5. You wonder why? Because IF a user has more than like 200-100 purchases it will slow down your website. (yes if you sell licences or whatever it can happen that people have more than thousands of "purchases") This also can be abused to spam open/refresh the site to really hurt the website's performance/db. I don't understand why you would want to display more than 25 purchases on one side anyway? Would be nice to get this still in IPS4... cuz it really can hurt website performance :/ Länk till full forum post

  9. My community uses only 6 ranks, and while we don’t make a big deal of ranks (i.e., they don’t confer any privileges, permissions, or authority), we want them to mean something (i.e., there is some level of prestige from higher ranks). In keeping with the theme of our community (a wargame), our community ranks are based on titles (not ranks) within the game and there is a time/longevity component to them. Content and engagement are our main focus, naturally, and the more important element of all of this is the actual achievements that members earn; but we want the time/longevity implied by the ranks to be reflected to a degree. Under the current system, however, this is impossible. The only way to achieve more discrete control over ranks and to allow more flexibility is to create the option for achievement points to be assigned to different bins or tracks (I prefer “tracks”). While I could see how some communities might want to have any number of such tracks, more tracks means more complexity (especially for programmers) and a higher likelihood of things not working as envisioned. I’m only proposing the option for a second track. I’m not opposed to more being created, if it is feasible, but my community will only use a second track. I’ll illustrate this using my community’s concept. The default track is for all content and engagement while the optional track (in my community) would be used for longevity. Things are simple for the first three ranks. Members are automatically in the first rank when they join the community, with 0 achievement points. Members advance to the second rank with 2 achievement points, and to the third rank with 4 achievement points. Note that each achievement is worth 1 point, and we have achievements for as many things as possible to encourage participation. Our concept requires the second track only for the last ranks (and we are considering increasing the number of ranks by at least one). Our concept is that members can earn the fourth rank (“Veteran”) in one of two ways. If a member has a higher amount of content/engagement achievements, they can earn the rank at a lower longevity point. Conversely, they can earn the same rank with fewer content/engagement achievements, but it will take them longer. The fifth rank is similar (and any subsequent rank(s) would continue this progression). Mathematically, this looks something like: Content/Engagement Achievements = C Longevity Achievements = L Rank is subscripted number at either higher (↑) or lower (↓) value Rank 4 criteria IF C ≥ C4↑ AND L ≥ L4↓ OR IF C ≥ C4↓ AND L ≥ L4↑ THEN (rank 4) And each subsequent rank would be similar, with increasing values. We have explored trying to achieve something like this using the current single track system, but it is not possible. Länk till full forum post
  10. It would probably take a miracle from the heavens above to restore this feature, but I’ll leave my feedback nonetheless. I have this third-party feature called “reaction in private messages," where members can express their reactions in private messages. Due to removing the hooks in v5, I was told this feature is impossible to recreate in v5; the only option is for IPS to include it in the core. This one feature is the one I missed the most in v5. I read it only takes one line of code to apply this feature. By any chance, can we react to private messages in v5? Länk till full forum post
  11. It would be great if admins could enter default Country and City information in the fields for Events. My site (and many others) is a hyperlocal one and the vast majority of events are within one city, and there is absolutely no reason for any events to be in a different country (and the list of countries available to users is huge). This would remove superflous information and prevent a barrier for users to create an event. I did a search for this on the forums here and there are a few threads of other sites asking about it, but it doesn’t seem to ever have been formally requested. So, ideally (as I see it, there may be other solutions), in ACP > Community > Events Settings, there would be a ‘Location Field Defaults’ setting where an admin could select/enter specific locations for the location fields (preferably at a minumum the Country and City fields, perhaps others would find other fields useful?). Then when a user comes to create an event on the front-end those fields would be pre-filled for the user, removing those superflous steps for them. Having used Wordpress and plugins for specific events sites in the past, default/pre-filled locations are usually an available option for admins so this would bring the Events app on Invision Community in line with other major sites. Thanks in advance! Länk till full forum post

  14. I think you should work on the speed / loading times of the forum. IPS4 has always been slower than Xenforo but IPS5 seems more so. I find every Xenforo site seems to load really fast, IPS4 was sluggish to begin with but improved over time. A snappy forum is always better experience. speed.mp4 Länk till full forum post

  23. I primarily use the PWA when visiting this site using an iPhone 16 Pro Max. There are several theme usability issues that would be obvious to anyone using the PWA for a couple of days. Please have your devs spend time on testing out the UX specifically on the iOS PWA before releasing the v5 GA. Specifically, I am unable to post using the PWA so I’m posting this in Safari. I think I might have taken time to report this one bug already, but almost every time I use the PWA I see issues with the theme that I simply don’t have the time or energy to report. A good week of thorough testing of the PWA would be very welcome by me as I intend to enable the PWA for my upcoming v5 site and it is important to me that the UX be as good or better than using a browser. The issues are undoubtedly from Webkit in the PWA being several releases behind Safari and your devs using Safari or Chrome and not the PWA for testing. Länk till full forum post
  24. Over the various versions of IPB forums and applications, one of the most significant challenges for self-hosted admins has been the lack of clarity in error messages. In the past, having error codes listed was incredibly helpful. They allowed me to identify issues quickly and resolve them without needing to open a support ticket. This saved considerable time—what might have taken an hour to fix on my own could otherwise take days of back-and-forth with support to resolve. The current example of error handling isn’t very helpful for self-hosted admins. Previously, the error code lists provided a way to look up and address issues independently, which was invaluable. I’d like to request that this feature be restored to assist self-hosted admins in troubleshooting errors more efficiently. Länk till full forum post
